Windsor TapestryThe design of 'Windsor' dates from around 1790. Originally taken from a 17th century silk tapestry, most likely used as a bed hanging, the motif incorporates wild birds, blossoming vines and sun ripened grapes. Seemingly Portuguese in origin, this beautifully woven tapestry delights the eye with its versatile colour palette of golden green enriched with jewel tones on a cotton cream ground. The stole is lined with a Midnight cotton sateen

Scaling down the delicate floral motifs (particularly the rose) to create a smaller pattern repeat allows the luscious garlands to bloom

and paying tribute to our founders

and is often used for orphreys

Due to the nature of the linen used and production methods the linens are not always exactly square / rectangular

with Old Gold Diamond & Lay fringe on the lappets
