Drawn from a photograph I made a few years ago

I know in my heart that the landscape and nature is much too grand to be tamed by my camera and I yet I need the feeling of calm

This is a quiet view of a hallway and staircase in the Château de Baynac

I believe in the power of what I call "universal gestures"

This week I made this photograph out in my backyard studio with my 8x10 camera

I think to myself about who all might have looked out that upper window with the drape pulled aside

It is contrasty and backward
