This single ultra-long exposure was shot on a profoundly windless summer evening as the sun was setting through the colorfully glowing clouds out over the Gulf of Mexico from the westside beach on the deserted island of Egmont Key

but the canyon you see is some of the some of the steepest cliffs

a stable and sturdy tripod is an absolute necessity in order to keep the exposed image sharp in the places i wanted sharpness (the grape vines and foreground) and permit for accurate motion blur for anything moving in the image (the clouds)

there's no other combination I can think of that comes close to capturing the magic of a perfect summer day
