Portrait of C.- photogravure print - The Weekly EditionI have been making portraits of people for 40 years and I have been told this genre best represents my love for photography. Now days my portraits are as much about me the maker, as they are about the subject, the sitter. I like it this way and the work is meaningful to me and a joy to make. This hand pulled photogravure print is made with Charbonnel noir 55981, bistre, with a dash of Charbonnel sanguine ink on Hahnemhle copperplate paper. I printed

The color and textures for the covers and papers influenced by the mood and colors I see

I set this bunch of pomegranates and persimmons on the window sill and made a negative with my 8x10 camera

This simple indigo slip came to my studio a few years ago and has been calling out to me since it arrived
